The town of Draguignan has unveiled a particularly rich program for the next ten days, from May 7 to 17, 2026. The official agenda, communicated by the municipality, highlights a series of events which combine history, culture, solidarity and sport, offering residents a multitude of activities. Between the patriotic commemorations, the notes of the Playbach festival and the traditional bowling meetings, the capital of Dracenia is preparing to experience a period of great excitement.
The duty to remember at the heart of the celebrations
The commemorations will take center stage, starting with the day of Friday, May 8, dedicated to the celebration of the Victory of 1945. The program will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Rhône American Cemetery, continue at 9:15 a.m. in front of the Resistance Monument on the Place de la Paix, then at 11:30 a.m. at the War Memorial in the main courtyard of the Town Hall, ending at 11:45 a.m. at the War Memorial in the Jardin Anglès.
Sunday May 10 will be dedicated to the National Day of Memories of the slave trade, slavery and their abolitions, with a ceremony scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the “Sarda Garriga” Memorial.
Finally, the historical section will continue on Wednesday May 13 at 6 p.m. at the Maison des Sports et de la Jeunesse (MSJ) with a conference organized by the Society for Scientific and Archaeological Studies of Draguignan on the theme: “From Liberation to Victory, resistance to power in the Var (August 1944 – spring 1945)”.
A cultural excitement for all audiences
Culture will be particularly in the spotlight with the Playbach Festival which opens this Thursday, May 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the Théâtre de l’Esplanade with the Luca Sestak Trio concert. The festival will continue on Sunday May 10 at 6 p.m. with a free concert by the Cuivres Ensemble ensemble at Parc Haussmann, on Tuesday May 12 at 8:30 p.m. with the show “Leipzig 1726”, and will close on Sunday May 17 at 8:30 p.m. with an organ concert by Jérémie Noyer in the Saint-Michel church. The city is also organizing a green waste collection on Saturday May 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Foux and the old prison car parks.

One of the major events of this period will be the Draguignan Bowls Festival, which will be held from Wednesday May 13 to Sunday May 17 in the Allées d’Azémar car park and bowling alley. This traditional event promises to attract many enthusiasts and spectators.
Sports fans will also meet on Thursday May 14 at the Stade Léo Lagrange for a friendly rugby tournament, and on Saturday May 16 at 7 p.m. for “La Décathlonienne”, a 5 and 10 km walking race organized on the green gap between Trans-en-Provence and Draguignan. Finally, the Provençal and craft market will liven up Boulevard Clemenceau like every Thursday morning.
