5 score tips using Cremona Quartet Ensemble

How are the channels organized?

The channels are organized following a series of creative steps based on the aspects of the arrangement: rhythm, harmony, instrumentation and form. Once you have the basic idea for your chain section, go through each of these aspects in turn, deciding how to approach them according to the type of chain composition you want to make.

The rhythm (when notes occur in time) and harmony (how the heights of the notes combine to create agreements) are the constituent elements of a musical arrangement. Complex rhythms will create more energy and excitation than simple. The main harmonies seem more edifying, darker minor harmonies, and dissonances (conflict notes) can create tensions.

Instrumentation means deciding which string instruments should play the notes in your score. There are many smart ways to use instrumentation to make the most of your string set – we will enter it below.

Finally, the form means deciding on the structure that your chain arrangement should have. Are there two different melodies that occur one after the other? Is there a repetitive refrain with verses between the two? When you are satisfied with the previous steps, move the MIDI equipment to your DAW to create the shape that seems best to you.
